October Highlights at Galesville Elementary
October was a busy and exciting month at Galesville Elementary, filled with special events that encouraged learning, celebrated positive behavior, and reinforced important safety lessons.
We kicked off Red Ribbon Week from October 24 to October 30, focusing on making healthy choices and living a drug-free life. This year’s theme was “Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug-Free.” Each day, students showed their support by dressing up according to different themes:
- October 24 - Rally in Red: Students wore red to make a bold statement against drugs.
- October 25 - Team Up Against Drugs: Students dressed in sports gear, showing that teamwork and healthy activities are great alternatives to drugs.
- October 26 - Follow Your Dreams and Be Drug-Free: Pajama day, reminding students that having big dreams doesn’t mix with drugs.
- October 27 - You and Drugs Don't Mix: Mismatched clothing day to show that drugs don’t fit a healthy lifestyle.
- October 30 - Say "BOO" to Drugs: Students dressed in costumes to wrap up the week with a fun, festive message to stay drug-free.
Earlier in the month, we were thrilled to take part in Read for the Record, a global literacy initiative aimed at encouraging early reading. Our AGR staff organized a special morning where families joined us at school. Each grade level read a story together, and families spent time reading with their students in classrooms. The event wrapped up with our Red Hawk Rally, an assembly celebrating student achievements and reinforcing our school values of being safe, respectful, and responsible.
Our October Red Hawk Hero breakfasts continued to recognize students who consistently demonstrate these values. Students enjoyed a special breakfast in the gym with their families, where honorees were celebrated for their positive impact on our school community.
Additionally, the Galesville Area Fire Department visited to teach fire safety to all students from 4K to 5th grade. This hands-on session focused on fire alarms, ensuring students understand what to do if one sounds. We appreciate the fire department’s commitment to keeping our students safe and informed.
Thanks to all the families, staff, and community members who helped make October such a meaningful month at Galesville Elementary!
