snow scene

With the winter flurries returning, I just wanted to update you on our snow day outlooks for this year. In the case of inclement weather and school is canceled the elementary schools will follow the following:

  • The first two snow days will be a traditional snow day with no learning activities for your student.

  • After those days, students will have learning activities sent home for snow/weather days that we can predict in advance.

    • This may look like a few assignments that can be done with minimal support from home with limited technology needed.  These activities will not take a great deal of time but will give students a chance to practice some of the skills they are working on in their grade level.

    • Activities would be sent home the night prior to an anticipated or probable snow day. This does not guarantee that a snow day would occur the following day.

  • If there is an unexpected snow day we would have elementary staff working on professional development while students enjoy a more traditional snow day with no additional learning activities.

These plans help us to stay within our school calendar without the need to make up additional days. Our goal is to make these days manageable for our students and families while still providing opportunities for learning to continue when possible with minimal support needed from adults.  We want to ensure that students are able to experience the excitement of a snow day while also giving the opportunity to continue learning and growing.
